Photo Dynamic Therapy
An advanced, non-invasive treatment combining a Photo-Dynamic mask with light-activated skin technology, to support stimulation, rejuvenation and repair.
Light, doing the work
Photo-Dynamic Therapy is a non-invasive treatment combining professional skincare with light-activated technology — an approach that until recently belonged to clinics rather than salons.
It suits skin that has not responded to other approaches, and it always begins with a consultation so we can be honest about whether it is the right choice for you.
CHOOSE WHAT SUITS YOU
Melasma and Dark Spots
Targeted light therapy helps improve the appearance of pigmentation, melasma and uneven skin tone for a clearer, more balanced complexion.
Wrinkles and Anti-Ageing
Light therapy supports natural collagen production, helping to soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improve skin firmness.
Acne and Breakouts
Targeted light therapy helps calm blemish-prone skin, reduce inflammation and improve the appearance of acne and breakouts.
Your treatment journey
01
Consultation
A full skin analysis first. This treatment is not right for everyone, and we will tell you so.
02
The four stages
A resurfacing peel, a light-activated concentrate, the diode mask, then prescriptive homecare.
03
A course, not a one-off
Best results come from a planned course. Your therapist will set out what that looks like.
KATHERINE DANIELS
High-density diodes, not ordinary LED
The mask carries thousands of high-density diodes emitting pure monochromatic light in four colours, each selected for a different skin concern.
Because the light carries the plant-based concentrate to the same depth it reaches, the products and the technology work together rather than separately.
Frequently asked questions
What is Katherine Daniels Photo-Dynamic Therapy?+
Katherine Daniels Photo-Dynamic Therapy is an advanced, non-invasive facial treatment combining high-density LED light with specially selected, light-activated skincare concentrates. It is designed to support skin stimulation, rejuvenation and repair while targeting particular skin concerns.
How does Photo-Dynamic Therapy work?+
The treatment uses selected wavelengths of LED light alongside a professional Photo-Dynamic concentrate chosen for your skin. The light and skincare products work together as part of a personalised treatment plan.
What skin concerns can Photo-Dynamic Therapy help with?+
Katherine Daniels Photo-Dynamic Therapy offers targeted treatments for fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation and dark spots, acne and breakouts, and redness-prone or sensitive skin. A consultation will determine which treatment is most appropriate for you.
Can Photo-Dynamic Therapy help with fine lines and wrinkles?+
The Anti-Ageing and Rejuvenation treatment is designed to support the skin's natural renewal processes and collagen production. It can help soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while improving the appearance of firmness, texture and radiance. Results vary between individuals.
Can Photo-Dynamic Therapy help with pigmentation and melasma?+
The Pigmentation and Dark Spots treatment is designed to improve the appearance of hyperpigmentation, melasma, dark spots and uneven skin tone. Pigmentation can have several causes, so your therapist will assess your skin before recommending treatment.
Can Photo-Dynamic Therapy help with acne and breakouts?+
The Acne and Blemished Skin treatment is designed to support congested and blemish-prone skin. It can help calm the appearance of inflammation, improve the look of breakouts and support a clearer complexion. It is a cosmetic salon treatment and not a replacement for medical acne treatment.
Is Photo-Dynamic Therapy suitable for sensitive or redness-prone skin?+
Katherine Daniels offers a specific programme for rosacea-prone and sensitive skin, combining carefully selected LED light with calming skincare products. Because sensitive skin differs between clients, suitability must always be established during a professional consultation.
Is salon Photo-Dynamic Therapy the same as medical photodynamic therapy?+
No. Katherine Daniels Photo-Dynamic Therapy is a non-invasive cosmetic LED facial treatment. Medical photodynamic therapy can involve prescription medicines and is performed by medical professionals. Our salon treatment does not diagnose, treat or cure a medical condition.
What happens during a Photo-Dynamic Therapy treatment?+
Your journey begins with a consultation and professional skin analysis. Depending on your treatment, the appointment may include skin preparation, a resurfacing peel, application of a light-activated concentrate, time beneath the high-density diode mask and finishing skincare products.
How many Photo-Dynamic Therapy treatments will I need?+
Photo-Dynamic Therapy is normally recommended as a planned course when addressing a specific skin concern. The number and frequency of appointments will depend on your skin, its response and what you would like to achieve. Your therapist will create a personalised plan following your consultation.
Is there any downtime after Photo-Dynamic Therapy?+
Photo-Dynamic Therapy is non-invasive and is generally associated with little or no downtime. Some clients may experience temporary redness or sensitivity, particularly when treatment includes skin resurfacing. Your therapist will explain what to expect and provide appropriate aftercare advice.
Can I have Photo-Dynamic Therapy while pregnant or taking medication?+
Please tell us if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication, receiving medical treatment or have a health or skin condition. Certain medications and conditions can affect treatment suitability or sensitivity to light. We may ask you to obtain advice from an appropriate healthcare professional before proceeding.
